Welcome to Akaurta Karmidamo, our complex's jewel where the richness of Georgian culture is celebrated through both cuisine and theater. On June 9th, we premiered our latest theatrical production, "Chikhirtma or Bozbashi, Yellow or Red." This culinary fantasy is inspired by themes from Ilia Chavchavadze’s famed work, "Is that a Man?!", weaving a narrative that explores Georgian aristocracy and social norms through a gastronomic lens.
First Part: The Theatrical Presentation
The first act presents a lively and humorous interaction between Luarsab Tatkaridze and his wife Darejan, who find themselves embroiled in a debate over two traditional Georgian dishes: Chikhirtma (a savory chicken soup) and Bozbashi (a hearty beef stew). The characters' exaggerated traits and their absurd arguments provide a comedic critique of Georgian aristocracy and social norms.
Second Part: The Culinary Experience
In the second act, you're invited to partake in a traditional Georgian feast where you can taste both Chikhirtma and Bozbashi. This interactive experience allows you to deeply engage with the narrative's culinary heritage, making you an integral part of the story as you choose your preferred dish, thereby influencing the unfolding of the theatrical face-off.
A Celebratory Premiere
The premiere, attended by tour agencies, guides, bloggers from various parts of Georgia, and international guests, marked a day of joy and cultural celebration at Akaurta Karmidamo. This event not only showcased our commitment to blending Georgian culinary arts with theater but also served as a reminder of the diverse ways in which culture can be appreciated and interpreted.
Join us at Akaurta Karmidamo for a unique exploration of Georgian traditions, where every performance is a feast not just for the stomach, but for the soul.
