The idea that would change our lives took root in 2019. With a background in tourism, we believed we had the experience and drive to carve out our own success story. Our quest began with a search for land, initially targeting Georgia's well-trodden touristic regions. Yet, as we explored these options, we found ourselves yearning for something more—something unique and uncharted.
That's when Kvemo Kartli called to us, an area steeped in the very essence of Georgian history. Home to some of the country's most significant historical milestones—Zezva & Mzia, the earliest European remains; evidence of the world's first winemaking dating back 8,000 years; and the story of Shushanik, whom we affectionately regard as the first emancipated woman—Kvemo Kartli was more than a location; it was a revelation.
Our search led us to a piece of land near Akaurta, in Bolnisi, adorned with a vineyard ripe for crafting terroir wine unique to this region. The decision was clear. We invested in this land, not just with our finances, but with our hopes and dreams.
Construction of our dream began in early spring 2019, a time marked by excitement and anticipation. In just 4-5 months, what was once a vision started to take physical form. But as our dream neared reality, the world was gripped by the unforeseen challenge of Covid-19. The pandemic brought with it a wave of uncertainty, putting our plans and hard work at risk.
The initial impact of the pandemic left us reeling, grappling with questions and concerns about the future. Yet, in the face of adversity, our family's unity became our fortress. Together, we navigated through these uncertain times, adapting and finding solace in the strength of our collective resolve.
Today, as the world gradually emerges from the shadow of the pandemic, so too does our dream. With renewed vigor and the lessons learned from our journey, we are ready to share the beauty and history of Kvemo Kartli with the world. Our family's journey to this point has been a testament to perseverance, unity, and the unyielding belief in the fulfillment of dreams.
As we open our doors and welcome visitors, we invite you to become a part of our story—a journey that began with a simple idea and blossomed into a living testament to the rich tapestry of Georgian history and culture. Join us as we continue to write our chapters in the cradle of Georgian history, where every sip of wine and every sunset over the vineyards tells a story of resilience, family, and the enduring beauty of Kvemo Kartli.
